Sophia Mortalla, President of the Saguday Chorale said, “I was inspired, motivated to keep on going with the guidance of our Almighty Lord at naluha ako since this is my last semester of being a student here [at] Northwestern University. I’ve seen a lot of struggles and disappointments, hindi lang para sa akin kundi para sa lahat ng mga studyante but this won’t be a hindrance for us na hindi ipagpatuloy ang ating pangarap sa tulong at gabay ng ating Panginoon.”

“First and foremost, the idea of a beautiful worship concert really came from our beloved President, Atty. Ferdinand Nicolas, and Prof. Ma. Liza Nicolas. When they told me about this project, I said “yes” right away without any hesitation. Yes, it was difficult to produce the musical numbers because they were done remotely. Thankfully, we’ve been in this setup for quite a while, and with the tremendous help extended by Sir Spi [Jon Oscar Lois Rodas], we were able to pull it through,” said Mr. Cabrales.

“To be honest, I was not that very familiar with the songs because I am a Catholic, but while learning the songs and listening to the recordings submitted by the members, I was deeply moved. Editing the materials was very rewarding because I felt both blessed by its powerful melodies and was inspired by the talents we have in the university,” Mr. Cabrales added.

He also said that the concert was very fulfilling for him because it not only showcased the students’ God-given talents but also gave people hope in these challenging times. He also added that music is indeed a powerful weapon and is considered an equalizer in this world. The concert also made him realize how supportive and loving the admin is. They fully support not just the talents of the students but also their dreams and aspirations as artists. He concluded that this university is a haven for budding artists.

The Saguday Performing Arts Group, the official performing arts group of NWU, is composed of the Saguday Chorale, the Saguday Cultural Dance Troupe, the NWU Marching Band, and the Saguday After 5 Band.

The 90th foundation celebration of NWU will last until April 2022.
