Saguday Chorale advances to the Final Round
As the golden voice of Northwestern University, Saguday Chorale resonates throughout as they made it on the list of the Top 10 Finalists in the 10th Sagisag Kultura Choral Competition. The preliminaries took place virtually on October 23, 2022.
Mr. Sherberk Cabrales, Saguday Chorale conductor expressed his gratitude and admiration for the dedication of his members. “It was tough because of our conflicting schedule. It was also at the time of prelims so rehearsing the group was quite a challenge. I really admire the dedication and determination of the members. They have sacrificed a lot of their time and I am most grateful and it paid off!” Mr. Cabrales said.
Moreover, Mr. Niccol John Labaro, Saguday Chorale President also shared his thoughts about the event and his expectations for the upcoming competitions. “As the President of the chorale, I can say that it feels good of being in a group of talented people. Besides that, it is a great achievement to be part of the top 10 finalists in the NCCA (National Commission for Culture and the Arts) Sagisag Kultura Choral competition,” Mr. Labaro stated.
“I assure everyone that this is just the beginning of the group’s accomplishments and we are looking forward to more achievements with the help of our very enthusiastic conductor/trainer, Mr. Sherberk F. Cabrales, and with the support of our university President, Atty. Ferdinand S. Nicolas,” he added.
The group managed to rehearse in order to prepare for the said competition even if they have a hectic schedule. They are also preparing for the upcoming competitions, particularly in the final round of the 10th Sagisag Kultura Choral Competition, and the World Choir Games 2023, aiming to achieve not just the victory of the Saguday Chorale but also the victory of the whole university.
