Tonight, you are going to receive your caps, pins, and lamps, as a symbol of the sacrifices and hardships of your nursing education.”

Then happened the narrating life and story, as followed by the entrance of Florence Nightingale, portrayed by Ms. Charmagne U. Acebuque, and narrated by Ms. Kathrina Mae Reyes, and subsequently, along with the ceremonial lighting of the candles with the Nightingale’s lamp.

“Finally, the light that shines is about burning out for others. Nursing is a calling that requires selfless service —putting others before yourself. As a nurse, you have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul, and body of your patients, their families.” Prof. Najorda stated on her inspirational message for the students.

Dr. Chita A. Gonzales, Vice President for Academic Affairs, also gave her message, “Despite all the challenges with finishing nursing school during a global pandemic, our incredible graduates demonstrated grace and resilience, working extremely hard to be here today.”

Afterward, Ms. Dhianne Steffy Balicoco, one of the promising students of BSN III, shared their class history. Ms. Balicoco stated, “A dream of being a nurse is making every one of us fight our struggles and hardships as we go on being student nurses. A million thoughts and doubts strike us. Some nearly stopped, some nearly changed their course, and some have transferred to a different school, but all have one dream. Dream to be a nurse, to be a healer, to be a care provider, and to be an inspiration. Let it be those dreams [that] keep us awake and fight for every day.”

“Three sections. 96 students. One Class. One Goal,” she added.

At the next juncture of the program was the Florence Nightingale Pledge of the nursing students, led by Ms. Charmagne Acebuque. Followed by the nurse’s hymn and then finally, the words of gratitude as spoken by Ms. Maessiahs J. Agustin, another one of the promising students of BSN III.

Ms. Agustin, being as the representative of the whole class, gave her message, “We cannot thank you enough for all your unconditional support and love. Having your presence to witness us have our proud moment, to share with you our triumph, and to celebrate with us on what we have accomplished made our night more special. And we thank you for believing us when we have doubts [about] ourselves. Thank you very much.”
