NWU honors its Founders’ Legacy through Wreath-laying Ceremony
Northwestern University (NWU) pays tribute to its founders as part of the 90th Foundation Anniversary Celebration on February 2, 2022, at the different burial sites in Laoag City.
The wreath-laying, memorial candle lighting, and prayer were led by Atty. Ferdinand S. Nicolas, University President; Prof. Karl Lenin C. Benigno, Vice President for Administration; Dr. Chita A. Gonzales, Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Prof. Josephine G. Bolusan, Vice President for Finance.
The 10 founders of the NWU are Nicolas N. Nicolas, Maximo A. Caday, Cresencio J. Barangan, Marcelino G. Ligot, Manuel E. Pintado, Angel A. Albano, Manuela A. Castisimo, Encarnacion L. Ruiz, Marcelo A. Tajon, and Rufina S. Mariano.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a certificate giving authority to the founders to operate then ‘Northwestern Academy, Inc.’ in March 1932 which pave the way to Northwestern University today.
The 90th Foundation celebration of NWU will last until April 2022.
