NWU CCJE to soon start F2F classes
To inform students and parents regarding the intention to open up to face-to-face (F2F) classes, Northwestern University’s College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) conducted a consultation meeting for F2F classes on March 18, 2022, via Zoom Videoconferencing App. The said meeting was attended by the CCJE students and their parents.
“Face-to-face classes remain a necessity for education. The social aspect of learning, where students are able to interact with their teachers and classmates, cannot be fully replaced by distance learning modalities…Today, Northwestern University would want to re-introduce face-to-face classes in a similar form [so that it] can be [made] consistent with the public health standards of the government in line with COVID-19, and, of course, with the approval of our LGU,” said Dr. Chita Gonzales, Vice President for Academic Affairs in her welcome remarks.
Prof. Agustina A. Dancel-Matias, the Acting Dean of the Office of Student Affairs, further discussed the general guidelines and safety protocols regarding the limited face-to-face classes.
“Regarding face-to-face, we are prioritizing those courses in criminalistics since [they have] a laboratory class, and also courses that require simulation. We will strictly adhere to the cyclical reporting of students on campus, the monitoring of their vaccination, and presence of insurance, and, of course, the observance of health and safety protocols in school. So far, no target date because we are still in the process of complying with the requirements in coordination with the VPAA, but hoping that it’s within this semester,” said Dr. Jonah Badua, CCJE Dean, regarding the plans for CCJE operation.
