NWU CCJE strengthens Drug Prevention Awareness, inducts USCPC
On March 5, 2022, the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) of Northwestern University conducted a Drug Prevention Awareness and Advocacy Programs Webinar and induction of the newly-appointed University Student Crime Prevention Council (USCPC) via Zoom Videoconferencing app. The event aimed to continuously keep the students informed and knowledgeable about the prohibited drugs including the laws that sustain peace and order in the community.
Prof. Agustina A. Dancel-Matias emphasized the two (2) important issuances. She stated that the university has been mandated to take active participation in the promotion of anti-crime and anti-drug prevention programs for the students, who have been described as the future fortification, to not be influenced by the elements of society, which will lead them to be problems rather than solutions.
PCPT Kristian Lee Badua, the guest speaker of the event, discussed drug affection, stational drugs in the country, the importance of Republic Act 9165 or “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” and Executive Order 66 series of 2018 or “Institutionalizing the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy” in relation to illegal drugs, government campaigns about illegal drugs, and the common factors affecting people engaging in illegal drugs.
He stated that crime is everybody’s concern, so everybody must always be aware. “When crime arises, we must know how to deal with our own problems especially avoiding the ill effects of a crime in our community,” PCPT Badua said.
“Let’s put into a context with a concerted effort of everybody whatever you are whoever you are whatever the raise you belong to, whatever walks of life that you are practicing we must give our fair share and as a part of the higher education institution under CHED because this gives the sense of honor ship in combating of crimes in the society,” PCPT Badua added.
