Jayson Santos, PICE-NWU President, pointed out the significance of the summit to their chosen field as he also looks for more opportunities in the new normal situation.“

As future engineers, being equipped with the knowledge from successful engineers in the industry is so much of a privilege It’s so important that we see past the pandemic and move forward because there’s a lot of opportunities for learning,” Santos stated.

“It was quite a fun and essential summit as we got to see great places in Cebu City, all while we enhance our knowledge in this field we chose to involve ourselves with,” he further said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kevin Pedro, one of the participants, also shared a glimpse of his experience with the recently concluded summit. “It was quite a fun and essential summit as we got to see great places in Cebu City, all while we enhance our knowledge in this field we chose to involve. Attending such an event so soon after the pandemic’s peak was an incredible experience for a student like me,” he expressed.

“The speakers’ topics are very timely and relevant for us future engineers. Being in Cebu, allowed me to visit some historical sites and see the CCLEX bridge, which is considered the country’s newest engineering marvel,” Mr. Pedro added.

Moreover, Engr. Glorina Curammeng, head of the Civil Engineering department explained that the delegates were supposed to join a competition. “The summit was scheduled on December 3. There are supposed to be activities on December 2. Originally, the events on that day should be Rube Goldberg Competition, Bridge Making Competition, and Got Talent however due to unexpected reasons, it was canceled. From a two-day convention, it became a one-day special student summit,” Engr. Curammeng mentioned.

“The summit is indeed an encouragement for the students because of the presentations and lectures that were being imparted. I hope that this will boost their eagerness to seize their dream to become Civil Engineers soon,” she concluded.
