‘In my nursing journey, this is by far the highest rating’ – Dean Bullalayao

Out of 98 examinees who took the Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE), the College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) produced 73 newly-registered nurses. The institution garnered an overall passing rate of 74.49%, surpassing the national passing rate of 74.40% The results were released on November 30, 2022.

Ms. Kristene Clare Lazo, RN and Ms. Christine Sofia Mortalla, RN, newly registered nurses, expressed their gratitude for the success they have attained.

“Passing the NLE is a dream that turned into reality. Up until now I don’t know what to feel. I am having mixed emotions because after all the things we’ve been through, we made it. Glory to God in the highest because without him, I wouldn’t have these two letters (RN) after my name,” Ms. Lazo said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Mortalla mentioned that it was such a milestone for her since she was both a student and a performer at the same time. “For the past 3 months of reviewing there are a lot of circumstances wherein I’ve faced worries, problems and distractions, but despite of it I ‘am now finally a registered nurse,” she stated.

“I don’t know what to feel, it feels surreal and now I’m looking forward and start a new beginning. Thanks be to God, Thank you to my Family, Friends, Saguday Fam and to my Beloved Alma Mater Northwestern University. Fiat Lux!” Ms. Mortalla added.

Moreover, Prof. Charliemane Bulalayao, CAHS dean and head of Nursing Department expressed his joy about the results of the concluded NLE. He was happy of the 80.88% passing rate of the first takers given that the students were products of the pandemic. ‘In my nursing journey, this is by far the highest rating,” he highlighted.

“They should take care of their license. Their license serves as their bread and butter. It was their hard work for four years,” he added.Prof. Bulalayao was also grateful for the faculty and the determination of the students who took the exam. He encouraged those who didn’t pass the aforementioned exam to strive harder, reminding them that it is not the end of the world.
