Employees’ Day 2022 emphasizes ‘Music and Wellness’

Northwestern University (NWU) faculty and personnel celebrated Employees’ Day with the theme “Revitalize: Music and Wellness” on February 18, 2022, as part of the university’s 90th Foundation Anniversary.

The said event had various activities wherein the participants had their morning Zumba. Meanwhile, in the afternoon, the After 6 band had a short busking held in the Freedom Park of the university. After which, the employees conducted different laro ng lahi such as sack race, Chinese garter, as well as kadang-kadang. There was also a shooting range in which interested participants tried.

Dr. Winston Flores of the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) said that having a day dedicated for them lessens their stress and burdens, especially during the enrollment for the second semester of this academic year.

“This brings camaraderie at the same time it makes everyone familiar with each other. It’s been a couple of seasons, annual seasons right now that we’ve had new employees, and we don’t know them all. So, these are opportunities, especially during the morning Zumba,” said Mr. Jon Oscar Lois Rodas when asked the importance of the said event.

Prof. Karl Lenin C. Benigno, Vice President for Administration said that “We have to use what we can do right now under the circumstance. We look to it as an opportunity because it makes us innovative. It forces us to think outside the box because of these regulations.”

The 90th Foundation celebration of NWU will last until April 2022.
