COBE students clench Mister and Miss Northwestern University 2022 titles
As part of the celebration of the 90th Foundation Anniversary, Northwestern University organized a pageant for Mister and Miss Northwestern University 2022 on May 27, 2022, at Aquino Multi-purpose Center.
College of Business Education (COBE) representatives, Reig Janncen Labaro and Reinalyn Joy Oania were crowned as the Mister and Miss Northwestern University 2022.
Reinalyn Joy Oania’s winning answer was, “Well, I face a lot of failures in the past few weeks, despite exerting my best efforts. I felt betrayed by the world. Having experienced this, society expects me to curl up and dwell in self-pity, but no, I stand up here tonight showing everyone that I can and I myself, a walking reminder that standing strong is being kind to yourself.”
“Winning the crown, it was unexpected, but I feel great that I won, and of course, it is my responsibility to believe in myself that I can win the crown,” Miss NWU 2022, said in an interview.
Reig Janncen Labaro’s winning answer was, “Standing strong is necessary because after all of the adversities that we have gone through, it is a sign that we should have enough fight left in us to go through all of the incoming adversities that may come. And we Northwesternians are competent, so let us show all of the other people that no matter what adversities may come, we will be left standing.”
“I wasn’t expecting this. I was actually expecting second place, but truly it’s not appropriate for us, but I’m actually really amazed right now,” said Reig Janncen Labaro, Mr. NWU 2022.
Ralph Elorde Mateo II of the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) and Jericha Faye Tingson of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) were crowned first runner-ups, while Lester John Gaces of the College of Maritime Education (COME) and Merry Chris Corpuz of the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT) were hailed second runner-ups.
There was also a preliminary contest that was held on May 20, 2022, at University Radio in which the contestants were judged according to their advocacy, talent, and initial interview.
Considering that the participants still have classes to attend during their preparation, the candidates managed to perform and showcase their full potential and remain strong throughout the competition.
Winning the crown or not, their efforts are worthy and appreciated enough. Hence, a true king and queen are not influenced by their diversion but are driven by their courage to stand strong in voicing and showing out the concept of a true one.
