CEAT conducts consultation, eyes limited F2F classes

The College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT) of Northwestern University conducted an online public consultation on March 11, 2022, via Zoom Video Conferencing App. The consultation was attended by the parents, faculty, and students.

Engr. Rolly C. Ramos, Dean of the CEAT, discussed the CMO 19 s. 2021, Guidelines on the Conduct of Critical Workshop and Laboratory, Thesis, and Capstone Design of Engineering Programs. These are the specific courses and subjects that are approved and obtained from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) CMO 19 s. 2021.

“The CHED Technical Panel for Architecture did not identify any courses for limited face-to-face, that is why no courses for the Architecture were offered for limited face-to-face,” Engr. Ramos stated.

After the presentations of specific courses and subjects, Engr. Rommel M. Agcaoili tackled the CHED-DOH JMC 004 s. 2021- Guidelines on the Implementation of Limited F2F Classes for all programs of Higher Education Institution’s (HEI) Under Alert Level System for Covid-19 Response. Moreover, it was later explained by Prof. Agustina A. Dancel-Matias the prerequisite of vaccinations and other matters involved in the said consultation.

Atty. Ferdinand S. Nicolas, University President, also joined the consultation and answered all the concerns about the proposed limited F2F classes for the CEAT students. It was facilitated by Engr. Mariscel De Guzman.

“As a student of College of Engineering Architecture, and Technology, face-to-face class is very important in our learning. Face-to-face [class] is really an effective way to learn knowledge and skills. I hope that the proposed limited face-to-face classes of CEAT will provide a higher chance of regaining greater understanding in our course subjects,” said Mr. Rexmith Hilario Pugyao, College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology Student Organization (CEATSO) President.

At the latter part, Engr. Rolly C. Ramos, expressed his insights on the upcoming physical setup.

“With the limited face-to-face classes for the identified laboratory courses, the students would be empowered and better equipped when the time comes they would be employed. There is no substitute for actual and hands-on experience,” he said.
