CAHS Nursing Dept gear up for Limited F2F classes, leads dry run

The Department of Nursing under the College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) of Northwestern University (NWU), in cooperation with the Philippine Nursing Students Association, (PNSA) led the simulation for the upcoming limited face-to-face (F2F) classes on March 9, 2022.

The said simulation is part of the preparation for the proposed start of limited F2F classes on March 21, 2022. It was participated by 12 nursing students, faculty members, and university officials.

The different guidelines for the limited F2F classes were discussed to the participants of the simulation. Entrance of the students at the university gate until they reached their classrooms , including the safety and health protocols, were practiced during the dry run.

“I am excited for the simulation for this face-to-face classes as this is a preparation for us for the limited face-to-face classes. In a sense that we will be able to experience and anticipate challenges that might happen on the actual day of the face-to-face classes. In this way, we will be able to provide an immediate conflict resolution if there are any problems that we will encounter so that on the actual day of the face-to-face classes, hopefully [on] March 21, the Department of Nursing will be able to ready, to open the school after this two years of pandemic,” said Jeronimo Sales, PNSA President.

“Honestly, I am happy to be back to have the face-to-face classes and [be] inspired to learn the skills we need for our chosen profession. The importance of simulation is this will make us overcome the challenges of this pandemic and this will help us to cope up with the things that we have missed especially the skills laboratory,” added Placido Y. Tabor III, Federation of Allied Health Sciences Students (FAHS) President.

“The face-to-face [simulation] was been a success and of course at its end, there were some comments that were given for the improvement of course of the policies that will be implemented on the upcoming [March] 21 face-to-face of the Department of Nursing,” said Prof. Charlimane A. Bullalayao, Department of Nursing Head.

The CAHS is the first college of NWU that will start the implementation F2F classes after two (2) years of distance learning.
