BSN cluster dominates PATHFit dance floor
Northwestern University’s first year students, from the different colleges, conducted a culminating activity through a field demonstration contest at the university oval, as final requirement with the subject, Physical Activities Toward Health and Fitness (PATHFit), on January 24, 2022. The freshmen showcased their dancing prowess and artistry through an aerobic dance.
During the first part of the event, the freshmen grooved to the beat of the invigorating zumba spearheaded by Mrs. Matda Ramona Y. Tamayo, a dance instructor from Retro Groove Fitness. Meanwhile, in the afternoon, a parade was held around the university grounds.
In her message, Prof. Agustina A. Dancel-Matias, dean of the Office of Student Affairs, reminded the students that PATHFit has an important role in the curriculum. “It tries to make you appreciate more about health and at the same time about fitness”, she stated.
Prof. Matias encouraged the students to be advocates of self-care, of being more conscious of their health, and of fitness. “We hope that this will make you more resilient as you fulfill and pursue your dreams not only for yourselves but also for your family”, she added.
Moreover, among the 10 contending teams, the Performer number 4 (BS Nursing-1, sections A, B and E) was hailed as the Champion, followed by Performer numbers 10 (BS Architecture-1 sections A, B and BS Nursing-1 section I), 7 (BS Nursing-1 sections D, G and H) ,9 (BS Tourism Management-1B, BS Criminology-1B, BS Nursing-1J and College of Teaching Education) and 8 (BS Civil Engineering, BS Psychology, and BS Computer Science) as the first runner-up, second runner-up, third runner-up, and fourth runner-up, respectively.
The program ended with the congratulatory message of Prof. Juan Jobelle Acosta, Dean of College of Teaching Education. He motivated the students to continue promoting wellness even after the first semester. “This is the only proof that there is an art in aerobics”, he concluded.
