COME Welcomes Batch 24-27 in Donning of Shoulder Boards Ceremony

The College of Maritime Education (COME) and Corps of Cadets of Northwestern University held the Donning of Shoulder Boards for the first-year cadets of Batch 2024-2027 on March 5 at the NWU Oval. The ceremony, marked a significant milestone in the journey of the cadets as they embraced greater responsibilities in their education and training.

Dr. Charliemane A. Bullalayao, Vice President for Academic Affairs, offered words of wisdom and encouragement, emphasizing the significance of the event.

“This donning of shoulder boards manifests your readiness, willingness, and dedication to your chosen career that will define your life until the wholeness of time,” said Dr. Bullalayao.

Meanwhile, Prof. Geronimo Castro, Assistant Dean of COME, reminded the cadets of the challenges and growth that come with the honor.

“The donning of shoulder boards signifies that you are now accepting even greater and heavier responsibilities. It is a manifestation of your personal growth. Never stop growing until you achieve your dreams,” he stated.

The event concluded with the cadets executing a final platoon march, demonstrating their discipline, unity, and pride as newly honored members of the Corps of Cadets.
