To engage the students, faculty, and staff in participating in a wide range of sports activities, resounding cheers and yells dominated the university grounds as the Intramurals 2024 commenced on November 27. The opening ceremony set the tone for a three-day of fierce competition and camaraderie among the different teams.

The event began with a parade consisting of the college officers and athletes from different colleges and their representatives for Mr. and Miss Intramurals 2024. Moreover, the program highlighted the symbolic lighting of the torch, led by Ms. Kyla Doctolero, athletic manager of the Supreme Student Council.

Atty. Ferdinand Nicolas, delivered an opening speech, emphasizing the importance of sports when it comes to teamwork. โ€œLetโ€™s do our best to beat the best team,โ€ he said, marking the official start of this yearโ€™s intramurals.

Furthermore, Ms. Nicole Mamuad from Vanguards and Mr. John Efren Basilio Jr. from Pathfinders are the newly crowned Mr. and Ms. Intramurals for this academic year.

Mr. Basilio expressed his pride, stating “Being part of this pageant and achieving victory is truly an honor. It reflects not only my hard work and determination but also the encouragement and belief of those who supported me,โ€ he expressed. โ€œI am truly honored and humbled to be crowned Mr. Intramurals 2024. This title is not just a personal victory but a testament to the spirit of our organization,โ€ he added.

โ€œThe essence of intramurals promotes camaraderie so let us inspire others to promote this quality, and of course, I want to take this opportunity also to give thanks to all the people behind the glitz and glamour.โ€ Ms. Mamuad stated.

Ms. Allana Rose Quiambao and Mr. Aerille Jan Larion both from the Aristocrats hailed as 1st runners-up, while Ms. Nicholle Jane Tagama from the Pathfinders and Mr. Mark Danielle Valdez from the Executors were announced as the 2nd runners-up.

Following the Mr. And Ms. Intramurals was the Cheer Dance competition. The competition was won by the Archons followed by the Pathfinders as 2nd runner up, the Vanguards as 3rd runner up, the Executors as 4th runner up, and the Aristocrats as 5th runner up.

Moreover, the ringside cheerleading, was won by the Vanguards, followed by the Pathfinders as 2nd runner up, Archons as 3rd runner up, Aristocrats as 4th runner up, and the 5th place by the Executors.

The opening ceremonies set the stage for what promises to be a thrilling three days of intramural sports, where students from different teams and organizations will compete in different activities, from field to literary events. The spirit of fierce competition is already in the air, with many teams eager to show their skills and enjoy the camaraderie that intramural sports at Northwestern are known for.

As the day unfolds, Northwestern University continues to celebrate its rich tradition of sportsmanship, healthy competition, and student active involvement.
